The Daxia Hydropower Station lies in Beiying County of Ganshu Province which belongs to the upstream district of the Yellow River. During the course of its construction, the factor which limits the high construction speed is many problems about design and construction. In the construction practice, in order to quicken the pace of main works and ensure the construction quality, we optimized the scheme of design and construction, worked out rational construction measure. We modified the scheme of overlapping placements in power house, abolished closed blocks in draft tube of power house, changed the turf cofferdam of tertiary foundation pit to stop-log gate, used the new technique on connection of steel bars and the conditioning water for roughening concrete surface widely, and so on. As a result of these measures, the height of dam concrete in hydropower station in river channel was increased 60m in a year, the first unit began to generate power half a year ahead of time.
