In the context of the decline of traditional industries,Chinese industrial cities,especially those in the northeast,are now actively adjusting their industrial land use and its layout.The mine-sites left behind represent not only deterioration of the regional ecology,disruption of ecological balance,but also waste of land resources,and further a social problem affecting ecological structure and urban development.Thus,the landscape restoration of waste mine-sites through ecological regeneration is of great significance.Beginning with the feasibility analysis of landscape restoration of waste mine-site and the case studies from China and overseas,the paper summarizes techniques and modes of eco-restoration of mine-sites and suggests that western countries stress the preservation of historical context and the sense of places along with the utilization of eco-restoration techniques.On this ground,the paper proposes the methods of landscape restoration for mine-sites based on ecological regeneration.By taking eco-regeneration as the objective,landscape planning and design as the method,the paper attempts to combine aesthetics with ecology and concludes with general suggestions regarding the landscape restoration of China's waste mine-sites.
