The National Association of Tile Manufacturers shows an increasing trend inproduction and consumption of ceramic tiles in Brazil these last years. The substitution of otherceramic coatings, because of their functional and esthetic features, they boosted the growth of theindustry. The Masonry Saw is a portable electric machine manual largely used in civilconstruction in small cuts and finishes on surfaces, tiles, roofing , bricks and wood. It stands outwith your versatility, practicality, levity and ergonomics. The purpose of this report is to presenta comparative study of noise generated by masonry saw operations in constructions cutting ofceramic plates outside and enclosure, their conduct and the variables of interference in theseactivities. The methodology used to study it was considered the noise levels generated in thesurroundings of the noise source at predefined points, searching for a relationship between thenoise generated at points where external and internal areas. It was identifies 90.5 dB at 1.2 m ofdistance from the source enclosure. For the open field, they measured the levels of 86dB thesame distance. The measurements in a radius of 2m from saw indicates values of 86dB.Thecomparative of the spectra indicate an increasing sound level among the frequencies of 100 and4000Hz ranging from 40 to 100dB. Between 5000 and 8000 Hz the values remain relativelyconstant. The directionality of the source and the influence of distance from the source areobserved in assessed noise.
