This paper presents a case study about environmental noise control of a TransformingrnStation built in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The complete study included previous acousticrnmeasurements of ambient noise, at the location of the future transforming station; forecastrnof future noise at the neighborhood, considering the two 32/40 MVA transformers'rnoperation; elaboration of a noise control project – the definition of a noise barrier (heightrnand material) with an absorption surface treatment towards the source. The materialrnchosen is a mineral fiber, non flammable and with thermal and acoustic properties. Thernfinal acoustic measurements, after the installation of both transformers and their firernresistant walls, indicated the good results obtained with a barrier that received a specificrnabsorption surface treatment, instead of a reflective surface.
