INDUSTRIAL ACTIVATION ANALYSIS

A brief background for neutron activation analysis is presented. The types of neutron sources currently used at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the irradiation facilities, and the 'types of instrumentation used ,to measure the radiations emitted by radioactive isotopes are described. Examples are given to illustrate the very flexible nature of activation analysis and the wide variety of analyses to which it may be applied. Special emphasis is placed upon the use of 10Wrnintensity neutron sources (10~6 - 10~(10) n/s) and their application in routine analysis for industrial problems.
