INTEGRATION OF A DECLARATIVE LANGUAGE BASED ON FLUID QUALITIES IN A SERVICE ORIENTED ENVIRONMENT

Ontology formalisms such as OWL, as well as conventionalrnlanguages designed for specifying Web-Service behaviorrnand interactions such as WS-BPEL, are limited in theirrnability of defining complex time-dependent processes. Asrnan alternative, declarative languages present several advantages:rnthey are easier to use, since desired properties arernspecified explicitly, they are smaller in size, as they lackrnadditional control-flow structures, specific for imperativernlanguages. In addition, model checking techniques can bernnaturally applied. In this paper, we describe a modelingrnmethod and declarative language based on fluid qualities.rnBased on this language, we propose two mechanisms forrnintegration in a Service Oriented environment. Using ourrnframework, intelligent and time-dependent device behaviorrncan be specified in an ubiquitous environment.
