The supplementary damping control can be efficientlyrnused for Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS)rncontrollers to damp the low frequency oscillations inrnsingle and multi-machine power systems. These lowrnfrequency oscillations may lead to the instability of thernsystem if not damped out properly. This paper presents,rnwavelet based adaptive NeuroFuzzy supplementaryrncontrol by incorporating wavelets in the structure ofrnConventional Adaptive Fuzzy NN (CAFNN) for SSSC.rnThe proposed control system has successfully beenrnapplied to single machine infinite bus system (SMIB) andrnmulti-machine power system for various faults andrnoperating conditions. Finally, the proposed controlrntechnique is compared with CAFNN using nonlinear timerndomain simulations for various faults and operatingrnconditions. The results reveal that the proposed controlrnhas optimal damping performance as compared tornCAFNN for both local and inter-area modes of oscillation.
