Infectious microorganisms can differently induce or inhibit apoptosis of immunocompretent effector and host cells. In this study, apoptosis in murine thymocytes was successfully induced by an infection of Candida albicans (C.albicans) in vivo. C. albicans elicited tyical morphological changes of apoptosis in murine thymocytes with AO and EB stain and thymic atrophy. The extracted DNA of thymocytes displayed the typical "ladder pattern" by agarose gel electrophoresis. 0.5 x 10~6 C. albicans could not induces apoptosis of murine thymocytes intravenously. 2 x 10~6, 4 x 10~6, 6 x 10~6 C. albicans could induce to produce 8.5 +- .4
