The 2009 Canadian Asphalt Exchange Program (CAEP) 2009 Summary

This report documents the results of the 2009 Canadian Asphalt Exchange Program (CAEP). Seventeenrnagencies participated in the 2009 Canadian Asphalt Exchange Program. The exchange provides anrnopportunity for participants to compare their test results with those of other laboratories in order tornprovide a mechanism for reviewing and refining existing test procedures. The exchange also providesrninformation to participants on their individual test procedures and equipment.rnFour types of binder material were tested in the 2009 exchange: a 150-200A asphalt cement; an HF 150Srnasphalt emulsion; an HF 150P polymer modified asphalt emulsion; and a binder PG 58-28. Allrnparticipants were given identical material samples to evaluate.rnThe test result analysis was based on the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) E691,rnStandard Practice for Conducting an Interlaboratory Study to Determine the Precision of a Test Method.rnThis procedure was used to evaluate the repeatability and reproducibility standard deviations for therndifferent test procedures performed in the asphalt exchange. This information was used to determine thern95 percent repeatability and reproducibility limits for each test procedure.
