Metadata specification for the digitizing and sharing of Dongba manuscripts

摘要

The Dongba pictograph of Naxi people in China is the only surviving pictograph in the world,and is listed as one of the world memory heritages by UNESCO.Currently,the majority of remaining Dongba manuscripts are housed in organizations scattered in dozens of countries,which causes the academic research dispersed and isolated.For the preservation,digitizing and sharing of Dongba manuscripts,an international platform is under construction.As part of this project,in this paper,a Dublin Core based metadata specification is proposed.Metadata schemas for resources such as manuscripts,manuscript scan images,scan image collections,audio and video recordings of manuscript translations(carried out by Dongba priests)are defined,respectively.
