摘要

Monitoring networks are designed based on a newly developedrnmethodology linking contaminant transport simulations andrnoptimization models. Advection and dispersion simulation generatesrnplume realizations, while the use of the Latin Hypercube Samplingrnaccounts for uncertainty in transport parameters and in contaminantrnsource characteristics. The optimization model using a GeneticrnAlgorithm adequately designs a given number of wells in order tornmaximize the detection probability and to cover the vacant area wherernplumes can pass through.
