Series arrays of high Tc SQUIDs have been fabricated by pulsed-laser film deposition and ion-mill-patterning techniques. The arrays consisted of 50-66 step-edge or bricrystal junction YBa_2Cu_3O_7 dc SQUIDs in a linear structure with two flux focusers. Each SQUID had an inductance of 20-40 pH and a junction width of 4 #mu#m. The arrays showed a modulation amplitude of up to 150#mu#V. which corresponds to a gain of approx 10. These results demonstrate the feasibility of using a series array of SQUIDs in direct readout SQUID amplifier circuitry with a wide bandwidth.
