The Arctic plays a fundamental role in the climaternsystem and shows significant sensitivity tornanthropogenic climate forcing and the ongoing climaternchange. Evidently changes in the Arctic andrnsurrounding seas have far reaching influences onrnregional and global environment and climate variability.rnIn this respect this study combines in-siturnhydrographical data, surface drifter data and directrncurrent meter measurements, with coupled sea ice -rnocean models, radar altimeter data and the latest GOCEbasedrngeoid in order to estimate and assess the quality,rnusefulness and validity of the new GOCE derived meanrndynamic topography for studies of the ocean circulationrnand transport estimates in the Nordic Seas and ArcticrnOcean.
