FOREST FIRE MANAGEMENT: A COMPREHENSIVE AND OPERATIONAL APPROACH

Remote sensing plays an important role in obtaining rapid and complete information on the occurrence and evolution inrnspace and time of forest fires. In this paper, we present a comprehensive study of fire events through Earth Observationrndata for early warning, crisis monitoring and post-event damage assessment or a synthesis of the fire event, both in arnwide spatial range (local to regional) and temporal scale (short to long term). The fire products are stored andrndistributed by means of a WebGIS and a Geoportal with additional auxiliary geospatial data. These products allow firernmanagers to perform analysis and decision making in a more comprehensive manner.
