In this study, the carrying capacity of Lake Er?ek - which is located at 30 km east of Lake Van – was determined usingrnthe remote sensing and morpho-edaphic index methods. With the remote sensing technique in this case study, thernchlorophyll-a concentration in Lake Er?ek was calculated through a total of 48 ENVISAT/MERIS satellite images takenrnfour times each month over a year period. The end results have shown that the chlorophyll-a concentration in LakernEr?ek reached its highest value of 6.970 mg/m~3 in June, while dropping to its lowest value of 1.268 mg/m~3 in July. Thernmean value of chlorophyll-a concentration in Lake Er?ek was measured as 2.853 mg/m~3/year. This mean value of arealrnchlorophyll-a concentration was then used to calculate the carrying capacity of the lake, which is 21331.47 tons/yearrnwith remote sensing as the method of calculation. Using the morpho-edaphic index, the carrying capacity wasrncalculated as 5534.7 tons/year.
