The accuracy of domestic satellite aerosol optical depthrn(AOD) products is limited, especially over land.rnBecause Dark Dense Vegetation (DDV) algorithm hasrnbeen well established over the oceans but this is not therncase over the land. In this paper, an approach byrnexploiting the synergy of FengYun-3A (FY-3A) andrnModerate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometerrn(MODIS) data were presented, which can be used forrnvarious ground surfaces, including for high reflectivernsurface. The derived AOD is compared to AerosolrnRobotic Network (AERONET) observations in Asianrnarea (15°-60°N, 35°-150°E) and a retrieval absoluternerror was around 0.1 is found. This method can berneasily popularized to be used on FY series satellite;rnespecially after the FengYun-3B launched in the future.
