USE OF ON-BOARD FILES FOR TELEMETRY STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL

The demand for an increasing of the autonomy level ofrnthe spacecraft leads to reduce the volume of telemetryrndata downloaded to the ground. In opposite there is arnneed for a higher level of observability. An elegantrnsolution is to store a volume of data larger than thernspacecraft is able to download. During therncommunication session, only a selection of stored datarnis downloaded thanks to an on-board processing able torndiscard the redundant or the not pertinent data. The usernof on-board files facilitates the management of storedrndata.rnThis paper describes the results of a CNES study thatrnhad the objectives to define an architecture concept,rnbased on the use of on-board files, to validate it throughrna demonstrator and to analyse the impact on thernspacecraft operations.
