NEW PHOSPHORUS CONTAINING FLAME RETARDANTS FOR EPOXY RESINS

In general, organophosphorus compounds act as flame retardants in polymer materials. Reactive organophosphorus flame retardants are increasingly used in epoxy resins. They can be integrated in the network and hardly cause any modification of materials properties and processing technologies. Reactive phosphates or phosphonates and in particular DOP derivatives have an excellent flame resistance. Apart from the synthesis chemistry of phosphorus-containing flame retardants, the effect of selected flame retardants in epoxy resins is described.
