Hot-2000 is a computer model which assists builders,rnengineers, and architects in the design and simulation ofrnresidential buildings for thermal effectiveness, passivernsolar heating, and the operation and performance of heatingrnand cooling systems. Many of the basic heat loss algorithmsrnwere derived or adapted from the National Research Councilrnof Canada's HOTCAN 3.0 program. Major additions andrnmodifications have been made, mainly in the simulation ofrnheating, ventilation and cooling systems. Weather datarnlibraries are available for 76 Canadian locations and forrn194 U.S. locations.rnThe program includes facilities for viewing and editingrnweather data and fuel cost rate structures. An economicsrnmodel may be used to estimate the payback of energyrnconservation measures. All reports may be viewed on screen,rnprinted directly, or saved in ASCII files for later printingrnby either a built in or an separate print spooling utility.rnEither a mouse or keyboard may be used for navigationrnthrough the program menus and editing screens. Both MsDosrnand Macintosh versions are available for use.
