The TEF (Transfer Evolution Formalism) and the ZOOMrnsoftware (Zone Organized Optimal Modelling) have beenrndevelopped in order to give a flexible framework for physicsrnoriented modelling. Their construction is based on a clearrnstatement of the necessary partition ning/interfacing process,rnwhich leads to the definitions of the two classes of simulationrnobjects : cells (elementary physical systems) and transfersrn(interfacing cells). This structure is the basis for system nestingrnand coupling analysis implementation. The desired flexibility isrnobtained through user oriented languages structured in layersrnfollowing the ALMETH world-layer grid. Further adaptability willrnbe brought up by present new tool development : time nesting,rnasymptotic analysis, and steady state computation.rnTEF and ZOOM evolution in the forthcoming years shallrnbe concerned with the application of ZOOM to experimentrnanalysis, the implementation of parallel processing takingrnadvantage of the tree structure of TEF, and the opening of newrnphysics modelling fields.
