THE ARCHITECTS APPROACH TO THE PROJECT OF ENERGY EFFICIENTOFFICE BUILDINGS IN WARM CLIMATE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF DESIGNMETHODS

This article aims at a better understanding of howrndecisions are taken to improve energy performancernof office buildings in warm climates and why energyrntools are not popular among the architects. A surveyrnwas developed based on theory of designer's thinkingrnand activities. Most of the survey consists ofrnstatements that can be weighted on a scale of 1 to 5,rnduring specific stages of design: pre-design, sketchrnand detail phases. The survey is split in four groupsrnof architects: post graduate students, lecturers,rnarchitects with expertise in sustainable environmentrndesign (ESD) and recognized architects.
