Experiments have been made to study the relationship between levitation force of the single YBCO bulk superconductor due to the permanent guideway and the gradient of the magnetic flux density. The point where we study the gradient of the magnetic field of the permanent magnetic guideway is the center of the YBCO bulk bottom surface. Levitation force and magnetic flux density data are automatically taken to a PC_based, measurement and control system using LabWindows program. Comparing the levitation force and the gradient of the magnetic flux density, we have come to the conclusion that there exits an approximate linear relationship between these two objects.
