摘要

This paper presents a new method for constructing hexagonal grid metal domes by means of post-tensioning. The shape formation approach is that the whole structure, consisting of uniform hexagonal pyramids, is first assembled as a planar layout on the ground, and then is deformed into its final space shape by post-tensioning. Based on previous studies, this paper principally discusses the planar layout, and the corresponding shape formation method for such domes. The proposed method is illustrated by a small scale dome. The economic advantage of the proposed shape formation method over traditional methods of constructing space metal domes is demonstrated by the test model.
