With the rapid development of digitla signal rpocessing equipment,active contorl of sound and vibration continues to find new applciatison in the engineering sciences.In the past,active contorl has bene used mainly to reduce unwanted sound and vibraiton (Nelson and Elliott [1]).Nevertheless,a nosie cnacellaiton sysem is in principle also a sound reproduction systme since,were the noise sources absent,it reproduces a st of sepcified signals at a numbe rof transducers.By specifyign a set of desired,rather than undesired,signals as a number of "target" positions,the techniques tha thave proved so successful in the active contorl of sound are directly applciable ot sound reporduction problems.
