Bandpass filters featuring wide bandwidth and extremely large free spectral range (FSR) are described. As a result ofrnsidelobe suppression the FSR is five-to-ten folds the value obtained from a conventional ring resonator. The filters are alsornremarkably insensitive to loss. In addition, a stopband filter of novel configuration is also described and its performancernnumerically evaluated.
