Using SiC, pure calcium aluminate cement and α-Al2O3 micro powders as main raw materials, SiC/CA6 composite materials were successfully prepared by calcium hexaluminate (CA6) formed from the in-situ reaction at high temperatures.Effects of sintering temperature on phase composition and flexural strength were studied The results showed that CA6 appeared at 1400 ℃ along with phases of SiC, corundum and CA2.The reaction completely finished at 1500 ℃, and the main phase were SiC and CA6.CA6 phase with plate-like morphology was the main bonding phase in the composites, and a flexural strength of 25.6±0.7MPa was achieved after sintering at 1500℃.
