Exploring Alternativity of Institutional Repositories to Subscription Resources Based on Users’ Accesses Log

Institutional repository (IR) has been widely deployed in arnlot of universities and research institutions. Researchers allrnover the world share their research outputs in an openaccessrnway. Not only does it speed up the dissemination ofrnscholarly information, but it can also decrease the cost inrnacquiring commercial databases. This article investigatesrnwhether IRs are the viable alternative to subscriptionrnresources. The primary result shows that the satisfactionrnrate is 8.255% based on 124,357 real users’ experiences.rnFurthermore, the different institutional repositoriesrndemonstrated their capability to complement each other inrnfulfilling the users’ access requests. The promising endrnresult suggests that future studies should include more typesrnof open-access repositories.
