A data management system for a small computer

A data management system for a small computer is presented, including essential algorithms and techniques for implementation. The purpose of this system is to provide high level creation, maintenance, retrieval and updating capabilities for data in a master file residing on systems with limited hardware resources. This system includes the capabilities of data management operations and a query language.

The algorithm and implementation details are based upon actual development of a data management system. It is designed as a facility for the reporting of data from a master file. However, the integration of data and associated benefits available in a complete data base management system [Ross 1978] is not achieved.
