Case of the Mobile Telecommunication Service Innovation in Madagascar

This paper analyses the role played by innovation in mobile telecommunication market in Madagascar. Telecom sector has seen a significant acceleration from 2005 until now, namely through strong growth of basic services subscribers and network geographical expansion. This is due to a more favorable investment climate, to some key regulatory decisions and also to new innovations on tariff plan from Operators which have allowed prices to go down. The arrival in the mobile internet however did not fail to give a blow of inch to the growth of mobile market. A good health, also boosted by the arrival of a new operator in the market of the mobile: Telma Mobile, in the beginning of 2007. In Madagascar island, during the last five years, the mobile telecommunication sector is one of the major contributors in terms of revenues and infrastructure development.
