Measurement and Analysis of Technical Capacity in Zhejiang Manufacturing Industry： A Comparison Based on Eight Regions

In this paper, we selected seven provinces, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Guangdong, Anhui, Shandong, Fujian and Liaoning, to make a comparison with Zhejiang province. The technical capabilities of manufacturing sector in these eight provinces as well as the technical capabilities of the various industries within Zhejiang Province were calculated. The technical capabilities of Zhejiang province turned out to be a fifth, while there was a great gap between Zhejiang and those provinces like Guangdong and Jiangsu. This great gap could be explained by the industrial structure and technical efficiency of the manufacturing sector within Zhejiang province. Therefore, we should enhance technical capacity and technical efficiency of the manufacturing industry within Zhejiang province by the industrial structure up-gradation and technological transformation.
