BRICKS: AN EXCELLENT BUILDING MATERIAL FOR RECYCLING WASTES – A REVIEW

Brick is one of the most common masonry units as arnbuilding material due to its properties. Many attemptsrnhave been made to incorporate wastes into the productionrnof bricks, for examples, rubber, limestone dust, woodrnsawdust, processed waste tea, fly ash, polystyrene andrnsludge. Recycling such wastes by incorporating them intornbuilding materials is a practical solution for pollutionrnproblem. This paper reviews the recycling of differentrnwastes into fired clay bricks. A wide range of successfullyrnrecycled materials and their effects on the physical andrnmechanical properties of bricks have been discussed.rnMost manufactured bricks with different types of wasternhave shown positive effects on the properties of fired clayrnbricks.
