Seismic exploration in sub-volcanic areas isrnchallenging, and Indonesia has many areas; andrnsome, undoubtedly, have potential reservoirs hiddenrnbeneath. Some volcanic areas have provenrnhydrocarbons; there’s geological theory that causesrnvolcanic areas could provide petroleum system,rnvolcanic rocks may form lateral seals or migrationrnbarriers. However seismic exploration in volcanicrnareas is a challenge for the imaging; publishedrnexamples of volcanic reflectors identifiable fromrnseismic surveys are very sparse. The purpose of thisrnstudy is to evaluate the seismic imaging of subvolcanicsrnby analyses of synthetic seismic responses.rnAnother purpose is to explain why seismic data inrnvolcanic zones have bad quality images, with somernsuggestions for improved resolution imaging. Wernuse forward seismic modeling, that is syntheticrnseismic modeling for the method of this study.rnSynthetic seismic reveals sub-volcanic reservoirsrnwith different seismic responses; identified byrnresponse of absorption, attenuation, high contrastrnvelocity, and illumination quality. After knowing thernresult, some suggestions are put forward aboutrnseismic survey design and seismic source to optimizernrecorded data for improved seismic imaging.
