As part of an Indonesia deepwater developmentrnproject, a newbuild 6th generation deepwaterrndrillship, or “rig,” was awarded a contract in 2013rnto fulfill the requirement to execute a deepwaterrnsubsea campaign in Indonesia.rnThere are many challenges in initiating a newrnsubsea operation including the development andrnmanagement of an operational team with therncompetency to plan and execute the program in arnsafe and efficient manner. This includes thernoperating company (Chevron in this case), its nonoperatingrnco-owners in the development (“Nonoperators”),rncontractors of rig-related services,rnand rig contractor personnel. In addition, therernwere challenges related to the use of new highlyrntechnical rig equipment, contractors’ newrntechnology and tools, and procedures that have notrnbeen previously used in the region due to thernrelative lack of deepwater experience in offshorernIndonesia.rnThis paper describes on how Chevron Indonesiarnmanaged this campaign in 2014. Well designrnassurance, operational preparations, and mostrnimportantly, maintaining IFO (Incident FreernOperation) were priorities for Chevron throughoutrnthis campaign. The well execution outcome andrnoperational efficiency are shared in this paper. Therncampaign was successful where the well andrnsubsurface objectives were met and all identifiedrnrisk were managed.
