When simulation results should be used for decision supportrnin time-critical emergency scenarios, a trade-off betweenrnminimizing the simulation time and maximizing thernaccuracy of the modeled scenario has to be made. Bothrnfactors have a significant influence on the degree of accuracyrnin the results. In this paper, we describe a simulationrnset-up for a time-efficient analysis of a common satelliternlink by extending a given raytracing simulation with a socalledrnPre-Evaluation (PE). It is well known that every surfacernof an obstacle within a raytracing simulator increasesrnthe necessary computing-time of the scenario. The novelrnprocess chain starts with the PE, which gives an estimationrnfor the minimal necessary degree of accuracy in modeling,rndepending on the maximum acceptable simulationrnerror. Therefore, the PE evaluates the influence on radiornwaves for all obstacles in the receiver’s ambience. Afterwardsrnonly those models need to be integrated in the analysis,rnwhich have a significant effect on the radio propagation.rnThis leads to an optimized simulation processing and to anrnincrease of the usability of the simulation.
