POLYANILIN NANOFILMS FOR FIBER OPTIC SMART NETWORK STRUCTURES

Polyaniline hydrochloride was prepared by the oxidation of aniline hydrochloride with ammonium peroxodisulfate in dilute hydrochloric acid. The polyaniline films were produced during the polymerization on the optical fiber connector face surfaces immersed in the reaction mixture. The thin film was created and its thickness has been about 100 nm. We have measured the spectral transmittance together with temperature changes. Polyaniline thin film embodied different behavior in optical spectra. At wavelength about 500 nm the polyaniline thin film had no temperature dependence, at wavelength about 850 nm the transmittance had strong temperature dependence. These spectral windows are the base for smart fiber optic network structures.
