Kapok fibers were collected to accomplish some basic tests, especially the tensile and bending properties. Tested by hand-drawing method and cut-middles method respectively, the fiber length was similar to Asiatic cotton, and the linear density was lower than Sea Island cotton. The tensile properties were investigated by XQ-1 Tensile Tester. The results showed the tensile curves of kapok were similar to cotton, and the tenacity and initial modulus of kapok were close to cotton, but the breaking extension was lower than cotton obviously. KES-FB2 was employed to test the bending property. It was found that the bending rigidity of single kapok fiber was small, but the relative bending rigidity was large due to its low Iinear density, and the hysteresis of bending was visible.
