Fine Bubbles in the Shroud Nozzle of Ladle and Tundish

Fine bubbles were generated in tundish when inert gas was injected to the rapid flow in shroud nozzle of ladle. Their size was calculated with the energy dissipation rate of liquid flow in the shrould and measured in water modeling experiment. The pressure distributions of the flows in the shroud are analyzed with Bernoulli equation. Coalescence and floatation of the bubbles in tundish were analyzed theoretically, and the time for bubbles floatation in molten steel within tundish was found to be fairly sufficient.
