The muzzle velocity measurement is divided into active velocity measurement and passive velocity measurement. The active velocity measurement exists the shortcomings such as bad real time performance, easily jammed, high costs etc. Contrarily, the passive velocity measurement has the advantages of good real time capability, anti-interference ability, low costs and easily operated. So, a passive muzzle velocity measurement applying to high velocity and small diameter ammunition is provided. Via designing the system's key parameters-the size of magnets, the quantity of magnets, the distance of magnets, and the magnetic field's direction, model is built by the Ansoft software and all the key parameters are simulated and optimized. Prototype is verified by simulation experiments. The research provides a reference for the design of muzzle velocity measurement system.
