With the ever increasing demand of electricityrnconsumption and the increasing in open accessrnparticularly in restructured (deregulated) environment,rntransmission line congestion is quite frequent. Forrnmaximum mitigation and benefit of this congestion,rnproper sizing and allocation of distributed generatorsrn(DG) are ardently necessary. A simple method isrnpresented in this paper for the optimal placement andrnsizing of this type of generators in distribution electricrnpower networks. A conventional iterative simple searchrntechnique combined with Newton Raphson (N-R) methodrnof load flow study is applied on a real 15-bus distributionrnfeeder model (located in Japan) and on the standard IEEErn14-bus system. The Powerworld Simulator ? v.15rncommercial software have been used for the modelling,rnvisualization, simulation and analysis of the powerrnsystems under study The objective of the formulationrnpresented here is to lower down effectively both energyrncost and power losses. The paper also employs anrnappropriate weighting factor in order to balance the costrnand loss quantities, and at the same time to formulate thernoverall objectives leading to high potential benefit.
