Electric Field Simulation and Sheds Optimization of Anti-ice and Anti-lightning Composite Insulator under Heavy Icing Condition

In order to study the electric field distribution of anti-ice and anti-lightning insulators under heavy icing condi-tions,thus optimizing the shed structures and alleviating the dis-tortion of electric field caused by icing,finite element simulation models of 220 kV anti-ice and anti-lightning insulators are built in this paper.The electric field distributions of the insulators with different extra-large sheds are calculated under clean and icing conditions.Based on the simulated results,the insulator sheds are optimized.Electric field comparisons are made be-tween the insulators before and after optimization.The results show: under clean condition,the extra-large sheds have little influence on the electric field;under icing condition,optimized extra-large sheds can alleviate the distortion of electric field caused by icing,thus raising the icing flashover voltage.And it can better alleviate the distortion of electric field caused by heavy icing when the extra-large sheds number is 5.
