摘要

This paper provides a summary of damage detection methods to identify,locate and characterize damage in civil infrastructure systems by examining changes in measured structural responses.Research on damage detection and structural identification methods has been rapidly expanded over the past two decades.The fundamental idea behind this technology is that modal parameters(notably frequency,mode shape and damping)are related to physical properties(i.e.,mass,stiffness and damping).So changes in modal properties can be used as damage indicators for structural damage detection,localization and quantification.In this paper,the methods are categorized in accordance with various criteria such as vibration based methods and local measurement based methods,signal processing based methods,model updating based methods,and baseline and non-baseline methods.Also a general description on each method is illustrated with general terms such as difficulties in implementation and level of detection,and a detailed comparison among different methods has been addressed.
