With the increasing demands for structural safety and reliability,structural damage identification based on the techniques that explore the changes in measured structural vibration response is a very promising topic of research.Identifying the locations and the extents of structural damage using the anti-resonant frequency information is presented in this paper.The proposed method is utilized to identify the damages of beam structures in a two-step procedure.First,the presences and the locations of damages can be identified by monitoring the presences of the breaks or jumps of the first anti-resonance curve.Then for those identified damage elements,a model updating method based on the least square algorithm is employed to assess their damage sizes.Numerical studies are implemented for damage localization and quantification in a simply supported beam and a cantilever beam,separately.Moreover,the study results show that the proposed approach is effective to detect damages,even when the noise intensity is as high as 15%for the beam structures,which demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed method in damage identification for beam structures.
