The remaining service life of a bridge is an important criterion for the manager to make decisions of whether maintenance is needed and when it should be carried out.In the assessment of fatigue problems of steel bridges,a crucial step is to determine the fatigue stress spectra,which are usually obtained through field measurements from structural health monitoring systems,which typically comprise strain gauges and/or weigh-in-motion systems.In this study,the standard fatigue vehicle spectrum of Ting Kau Bridge in Hong Kong can be obtained based on the weigh-in-motion system installed on it.Then the diurnal variations of traffic flow within different time intervals and the rate of change of the annual traffic are assessed and discussed.
