摘要

This paper presents a view of the interesting old-line Chinese design of structures for buildings that use wood,stone,fictile products.Neither as the modern frame work which made of concrete and strong steel bars with rigid joints',nor as modern mason works which use cements,nevertheless,the structure and the materials have enough carrying capacity and durability to last through the passage of time,and friendly to environment.The super frame structure was just piled up with many wooden rafters and beams simple-supported on well shaped blocks,brackets,and the rocking columns some with wooden brace bar to join with rabbet on the column top with some ties,while the superstructure was just standing on horizontal stone-block-bases which were half embedded in a soil-rammed platform.All the members are separated,just set together vertically one on one,that seemed hard to be simulated with existing bar-system mechanics procedures.Here we are trying to discover the methods and rules that conducted the structural work and were taught by craftsmen to craftsmen during thousands of years of the construction history in China.
