This paper reports on the first experimental investigation carried out to date on the compressive behavior of steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete(SFRHSC)-filled fiber reinforced polymer(FRP)tubes(SFRHSCFFTs).A total of 12 FRP-confined high-strength concrete(HSC)specimens were manufactured and tested under axial compression.The experimental study investigated the influences of steel fiber parameters,including volume fraction and aspect ratio of fibers on the compressive behavior.The results indicate that compressive strength and ultimate axial strain of SFRHSCFFTs are influenced by the amount and properties of the steel fibers.The results also indicate that presence of steel fibers can develop higher FRP hoop rupture strain and eliminate the strength loss typically observed in the stress-strain curves of FRP-confined HSC along the transition region that connects the first and second branches of the curves.Furthermore,it is found that the FRP hoop rupture and the behavior of the post-peak region are influenced significantly by the amount and properties of steel fibers.Analysis of the test results has led to a number of significant conclusions on the influence of test parameters on the compressive behavior of SFRHSCFFTs,which are discussed in the paper.
