A Cost-effective Design for Better Performance of CFLi in the Downiight

Thanks to much less energy consumption, and longer life, nowadays more and more consumers replace traditional incandescent bulbs with energy saving lamps, such as integrated compact fluorescent lamps (CFLi). It is not uncommon to see that CFLi is widely used in the downiight and enclosed fixtures, although this application is not suggested by most CFLi manufacturers. The extra temperature loads on the electronic components inevitably reduce the lifetime. The field conditions are preferably taken into account during the design phase, and thus a proper design is expected to lower failure rate.
