摘要

The tin(II) halides, SnXX' (X, X' = Cl, Br, I), are important additives in high intensity discharge (HID) lamps. Unfortunately, previously published thermochemical data for the binary tin halides, SnX2 (X = Cl, Br, I) are incompatible with the experimentally measured vapour pressures - key properties in simulations of operating HID lamps. Consequently, the derivation of a self-consistent set of thermodynamic data (AfH°, AfG°, S° and Cp°) for the tin(ll) halides, SnXX' (X, X' = Cl, Br, I) that is also consistent with vapour pressure measurements is, accordingly, a challenging, timely and worthwhile goal which would fill a gap in the current literature. The study has provided data for both binary and mixed halogen tin(II) halides which, in the case of the latter species, is the first time such data has been reported.
