Compact Fluorescent Lamp End-Of-Life: Behaviour Analysis and Possible Solutions

Self-ballasted Compact Fluorescent Lamp behaviour at End of Life (EOL) is investigated for voltage and temperature trends. Different solutions by electronics protection and by burner/plastic structure are reviewed and discussed. A detection and protection circuit is introduced which has advantages of low cost, small size and reliable protection. Experimental results based on I EC standards are included to verify the feasibility of the proposed solution.
