Stress difference in the evolution of geologic structure may result in a typical so called overpassrnstructure, a region has two different orientation in the depth. It is of great difficulty in confirming a strikerndirection for two-dimensional magnetotelluric inversion. The paper obtained theory model response byrnthree-dimensional forward calculation, and based on multi-site, multi-frequency impedance tensorrndecomposition statistics imaging technology get a respective strike of different frequency ranges in depth.rnAccording to the electrical strike of each frequency range develop MT two-dimensional study. The finalrninversion model in good agreement with the real model information compared to the traditional inversionrnwhich fixed strike azimuth. It is useful to improve the adaptability of the two-dimensional inversion and thernreliability of three-dimensional overpass model utilizing two-dimensional magnetotelluric inversion.
