Grid system is a networked system that enables one tornperform high throughput computation by sharingrngeographically distributed resources. Job schedulingrnmechanism is an important factor for improvingrnperformance of Grid system such as resource utilization andrnresponse time. This paper presents a hierarchical jobrnscheduling mechanism for the purpose of addressing thernperformance improvement of Grid system. It is based onrnmultiple-queue management with respect to both a superschedulingrnscheme for distributing jobs to overall nodesrnand a local scheduling scheme for assigning jobs within arnnode. Several experiments show that the proposedrnmechanism achieves higher resource utilization byrnimproving the backfilling ratio and using idle nodes in arnGrid system.
